October is "Global Diversity Awareness Month" and a time when CHRA recognizes and celebrates Baltimore-area organizations that are committed to workplace diversity.


On October 14th, 2020 we will present the 2020 James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Awards, followed by an educational program, "When Actions Speaks 1,000 Words - DEI In the Virtual Workplace." Join us for this engaging and educational virtual program and learn how to implement and sustain a successful diversity program within your organization.


Next month, on November 4th and 5th, 2020 we look forward to presenting our 15th Annual Fall Employment Law Conference LIVE! in a fully virtual format. Registration has been strong, and we encourage you to register by October 2nd to received the early-registration discount.


In addition to a full educational program agenda, virtual networking opportunities, an interactive conference app, and a virtual exhibition, the event will feature keynote addresses by SHRM President & CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP and leading economist, Anirban Basu, President & CEO of Sage Policy Group.


As we begin looking toward 2021, soon you will receive a ballot to vote for your 2021 CHRA Board of Directors.

Join us virtually for CHRA's Annual Diversity Awards Presentation and Education Program. On this evening, we will present the James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Awards to organizations that have implemented successful diversity and inclusion initiatives in their workplaces.


The awards presentation will be followed by an educational program where attendees will hear from a panel of diversity and inclusion practitioners and experts to discuss how they have created, adapted and improved upon award-winning programs amid a global pandemic and the social crises of today.

During this program, the panel will address some of the topics and questions CHRA members have asked including:  


  • Has it been difficult to sustain current diversity programs, or implement new ones, during this unprecedented time of a public health crisis and civil unrest?
  • Has employee and client engagement decreased, remained the same or increased over the past several months?
  • How have you “lived” your organization’s diversity statement this year in a virtual environment?
  • How do you address those controversial DEI discussions at work? 
  • What elements of your workplace culture have bolstered the success of your DEI initiatives?
  • What gives your programs the sometimes elusive “staying power”?
  • If you could change one thing about the way your employees or clients experience DEI at your workplace, what would it be?

In a collaborative environment, the CSSR group meets virtually to share career search best practices, provide connection, community, information, job leads and support for those in a career transition.
