The Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA) annual Spring Conference is a long standing tradition and a cutting edge event with approximately 450 attendees each year attracting Human Resource professionals from the Greater Baltimore area. 

 

CHRA is taking all developments concerning the coronavirus (Covid-19) very seriously and will continue to closely monitor the situation. There are currently no plans to postpone or cancel the 2020 CHRA Spring Conference. We have received no cancellations from exhibitors at the event, and registrations are on pace with previous years. We will continue to monitor the situation and of course will be in discussion with health authorities and the Association's volunteer leaders. The health and safety of all our attendees is our highest priority.

A dynamic presentation on historic commitments to criminal justice reform – particularly with the recent passage of the First Step Act, which provides the business community an opportunity to help people re-enter society by joining the Getting Talent Back to Work movement. In his own unique style, Johnny will share how by embracing best practices employers can identify a diverse pool of qualified applicants, improve opportunities for those deserving of second chances, and have a direct positive impact on their communities – strengthening them and keeping them safe.

Exit interview practices have been in place for decades at most organizations. A stay interview is like an exit interview, except the people you talk to have not decided to leave (yet). The goal is to find out what people like about the work environment and what they do not like. By minimizing or eliminating the negatives and building on the positives, you have a better chance of building an engaged workforce and retaining your top talent.

2a: *Business Credit* HR & the “Hidden Strategic Plan”

HR professionals are required to “be strategic” by accrediting bodies, employers, and academic institutions. However, to be strategic, HR programs need to be linked to the organization’s strategic plan, which can be “hidden” due to not being written clearly with the needs of HR or of the larger organization in mind. Some plans even fail to address the “strategy” part of strategic planning. This presentation shows how HR professionals can take a leading, proactive role in their organizations by clarifying how a more robust SWOT analysis can be used to examine the organization’s core competencies; value proposition to the customer; arenas; vehicles; and speed and sequence of events. Secondarily, this presentation shows how HR professionals can restore the “missing strategic middle” by conducting their own internal and external research.  

 

 

 

2b: 2020 Vision: A New Decade, A New Future: The Extraordinary Workplace Experience & Focus on the Quality of Interaction

CANCELLATIONS

If you must cancel your registration for a meeting, please do so in writing to info@chra.com. The request must be received by fax or mail no later than the close of business on Friday, April 3, 2020. If you register for this event and are a “no show” and did not cancel in advance, you will still be invoiced for the event so CHRA may recoup the funds used to pay for your meals at the event. If you do not cancel according to this policy, you will be assessed the full program fee.

 

CHRA qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c) 6 of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, your sponsorship is not deductible as a charitable contribution, but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense depending upon your individual tax circumstances — please consult your tax advisor.
