ABOUT THE PROGRAM & PRESENTER

Many high-profile and powerful men have been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault in recent months. Many of these incidents allegedly occurred in the workplace. What steps can a company take to prevent harassment from occurring in its workplace? If allegations of harassment do arise in the workplace, what steps should a company take to address these concerns and avoid potential liability? These and other issues regarding harassment in the workplace will be addressed during this presentation. After attending this session, participants should be able to (1) identify where, how, and in what forms harassment can take place, (2) develop effective policies, practices, and procedures to eliminate instances of harassment, and (3) develop effective policies, practices, and procedures to respond to allegations of harassment.

Stephen Stern is a partner with Hyatt &Weber, P.A., where he advises businesses and represents them in litigation. Stehen helps employers minimize risk and exposure to liability by developing effective employment policies, procedures, and practices. He also helps companies address issues that arise on a day-to-day basis, such as leave requests, employee discipline, avoiding discrimination claims, accommodations for individuals with disabilities, and terminations. In addition, Stephen has been retained to conduct highly sensitive and complex investigations in both the private sector and university settings. When litigation has been unavoidable, Stephen has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts and before federal, state, and local administrative agencies across the country.
