Pathways to Success

The Pathways to Success program is in its 15th year!

Members of the CHRA Board of Directors created "Pathways" in 1995. Managed by the CHRA Community Outreach Committee, the objective of the program is to better prepare our youth for the transition from school to work or school to higher education. The program is comprised of six, 3-hour sessions spaced out across the school year beginning with an orientation session. Each one-day session is held at a different host organization from 8:30 to 1:30.
The session topics include:

  • Habits for Successful Personhood
  • Developing a Personal Mission Statement
  • Work Cultures
  • Getting a Job
  • Skills and Behaviors for Job Success
  • Money Management

The sessions are interactive and require introspection, creativity and participation. They work on such concepts as teamwork, interpersonal relations, communications, interviewing, collaboration and cooperation. One thing that makes "Pathways" unique is that the sessions are held in real world workplaces, not in the schools. By being in the host organizations, students are able to identify occupations of interest that perhaps they did not know or think about previously. The school principals, guidance counselors and faculty make it happen each school year by selecting the students to participate and allowing them the time to go to the program.

Ways you can participate and make a difference:

INSTRUCTORS
Instructors are needed to help teach and manage the training sessions.

HOST ORGANIZATIONS
By volunteering your organization to be a host, you can educate the students on what your organization does and what careers you have to offer.

SCHOOL COORDINATORS
School coordinators help the Community Outreach Committee manage the session process, schedule the transportation, act as the liaison with the school guidance counselor, and work with the instructor in logistics and planning for the session.

HOST ORGANIZATION COORDINATORS
Host coordinators recruit and schedule organizations to host the session for the students.
