President's Message

Hello CHRA members!

This month sure has been filled with excitement and challenges with our history making snow accumulation. Though I love the winter (and the snow!), I am ready for the warmer weather.

Our volunteers are working so hard to make sure that there are great opportunities lined up for you. Our next Networking Event will be taking place this month. Come on out to meet and mingle with other HR professionals. The Professional Emphasis Groups (PEGs) will continue during this month's Education Meeting. I encourage you to participate in the PEGs to share and gain information with your peers. This month's Education Meeting is very special to me as we will be donating a portion of the fees directly to a charity in support of the Haiti efforts. I hope that you will join us. As always continue to check our website for additional information and updates.

This time of year, the existing Board is very busy with its succession plans. You were recently provided with a Call for Nominations for the upcoming 2010-2011Board of Directors. If you are interested in taking a more active role with CHRA, I encourage you to consider a leadership role on the Board of Directors. The opportunity to provide the support and guidance to ensure that CHRA continues on its mission is so valuable. Please do not hesitate to call me directly if you have any questions about the roles and responsibilities. If you would like to submit your name for the ballot please let Jennifer Thornton, CHRA Executive Director, or me know.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for CHRA Board of Directors

The CHRA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2010-2011 Board of Directors. Professional members of CHRA are welcome and encouraged to submit their name to CHRA for consideration. Participation on the board of directors is a rewarding experience that provides opportunities for leadership development, networking, and the ability to give back to the profession. As a bonus, individuals who have a PHR/SPHR/GPHR designation may obtain recertification credit for participating as an officer or committee chair.

The term is from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011 and the Board meets monthly during that time period. Directors are responsible for running CHRA’s volunteer committees. For a list of board positions and responsibilities, please visit: www.chra.com/committees.htm.
