President's Message
Embracing Change
Where
did
the
summer
go?
It
seems
as
though
just
yesterday
we
were
discussing
summer
vacations
and
our
plans
to
be
entrenched
in
the
great
outdoors.
Fast
forward
to
this
week
when
many
local
students
are
heading
back
to
school
and
the
beltways
are
backing
up.
Speaking of school I would like to thank all of our volunteers who dedicated their time to enriching the lives of an incoming class of freshmen at Cristo Rey High School in Baltimore. Our volunteers were present everyday for over a week helping to teach these students about The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens. A special thank you to Dennis McGough for creating the new curriculum that was utilized. The program was a success and we are looking forward to rolling out the newly revised curriculum to our Pathways high schools in the fall; Glen Burnie Senior High and Mergenthaler High.
The CHRA Board of Directors has been hard at work behind the scenes creating new programs for our members. As you have probably seen, our new Compensation and Benefits survey has been announced. Our members have reacted favorably to the new tool and are hard at work populating their compensation and benefits information online. If you are interested in receiving more information please contact CHRA's headquarters.
In addition, we have recently signed an agreement with thehumanequation.com. This agreement will allow our members to receive a 10% discount off the purchase price of online training courses. They even have a human resources recertification suite of courses which can earn you up to 31.75 credits through HRCI for your PHR/SPHR designation. More information on this feature will be released at the September meeting.
As our members' needs continue to change so does the organization. We are here as a resource for you. Please let me know if there is anything that we can do to better serve you in your professional roles.
I
look
forward
to
seeing
each
of
you
at
our
September
meeting
where
we
will
be
raffling
off
a
fun
educational
opportunity.
Sincerely,
Venus
Windmiller
