Provides leadership and works closely with the Board to achieve the association's purpose, goals and objectives. Serves as CHRA's central contact for SHRM information. Serves as a voting member of the State Council. Together with the Past-President and President-Elect and Membership Development Board Member serves on the nominating committee for the current and upcoming Board positions. Assists the President in achieving association responsibilities. Chairs the nominating committee for current and upcoming Board positions. Works closely with the Treasurer to ensure financial viability of the association.  Attends 75% of the MD State Council Meetings and oversees the annual comp survey.

Together with the President, holds CHRA signing authority for negotiable instruments, contracts and other legal documents. Provides financial advice to the Board regarding how to invest the association's cash or move its assets in various bonds and other negotiable instruments. Provides budgetary information to individual Board positions. Pays the association's bills and oversees deposits of checks and cash. Works with tax advisors to assure completion of the association's timely tax reporting. Monitors and advises regarding the association's liability insurance coverage. Reviews the board minutes from meetings and sends them to the board within one week of the meeting. Will be responsible for assisting with other areas during peak times.

Solicits, recruits and attracts new members to the association. Monitors membership renewals. Markets CHRA to prospective members. Develops and maintains a new member handbook. Provides assistance to the Member Services committee for new employee welcoming and orientation activities.

Provides marketing strategies for all association activities, efforts and initiatives. Seeks understanding of each Board member's work in order to determine marketing potentials and venues. Implements marketing action plans designed to advance the interests of the association. Facilitates sponsorship opportunities to affiliate members. Is liaison to the Executive Director for pricing and other special requests by potential sponsors. Will function as a public relations agent for CHRA. Will work closely with the MD State Council to make sure that all of CHRA's events are posted on their website. Responsible for oversight of the CHRA website with recommendations for change given to Executive Director.

Works with the President and President-elect to develop a succession plan for association leadership positions. Will be responsible for overseeing the PEG's, new member orientation, monitoring listserv activity, and planning 1 special event each year for the benefit of members. Maintains volunteer database. Recruits and assigns volunteer staff to committees.

This director works with a committee to monitor and evaluate local activities concerning workforce readiness issues and plans and encourages chapter involvement and activities impacting the workforce readiness arena. The director presents a report or provides updates to the chapter president and fellow chapter members and works in cooperation with state-level workforce readiness advocates.

Informs association membership of legislative issues related to human resource management practice. Collaborate on behalf of the association with SHRM, the Maryland State Council, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and other employment-related interest groups to influence legislative issues in a manner consistent with the association's values and mission. Produces position papers and/or articles articulating CHRA's position on various legislative matters. Plans opportunities for membership to engage in the legislative process.

Plans and schedules the association's monthly membership meetings. Uses member needs assessment data to determine topics, speakers, menus and locations for meetings. Arranges facilities, equipment, food and beverages for all association membership activities and events with the exception of the Spring and Fall conference. Partners with other Board members to ensure schedules and needs are clearly articulated. Evaluates programs presented and reports results to the Board.

Coordinates the Pathways to Success Program at two local high schools.  The objective of the program is to better prepare our youth for the transition from school to work or school to higher education.  The curriculum includes lessons from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.  Works with high school counselors to select appropriate students and coordinate dates, finds host locations (companies) and facilitators, and coordinates all logistics.
