CHRA
offers lots of opportunities for you to get involved in the association...and
therefore, get more out of the association. Get to know other HR professionals,
build leadership skills, and give back to the community. To volunteer for a committee, please contact the director via the email links below. COMMITTEES: Membership
Development Solicits,
recruits and attracts new members to the association. Monitors membership
renewals. Markets CHRA to prospective members. Develops and maintains
a new member handbook. Arranges new employee welcoming and orientation
activities. Develops
a succession plan for association leadership positions. Maintains volunteer
database. Recruits and assigns volunteer staff to committees. Provides
recognition event(s) and activities for volunteers. Professional
Development Plans
and schedules the association’s monthly membership meetings. Uses member
need assessment data to determine topics and speakers for these meetings.
Contracts for speakers and arranges necessary speaker accommodations.
Evaluates programs presented and reports results to the Board. Government
Affairs Informs
association membership of legislative issues related to human resource
management practice. Collaborate on behalf of the association with SHRM,
the Maryland State Council, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and other
employment related interest groups to influence legislative issues in
a manner consistent with the association’s values and mission. Produces
position papers and/or articles articulating CHRA’s position on various
legislative matters. Plans opportunities for membership to engage in the
legislative process.
Diversity and Inclusion
Develops
the association’s programs and positions regarding issues of diversity
in the workplace. Provides information concerning diversity to the membership.
Plans the annual membership meeting on the topic of diversity, and manages
the annual diversity and inclusiveness award nomination, selection and
presentation process.
Community Outreach Manages and directs the association’s Pathways to Success program to include: establishing program schedules, arranging host employer sites, confirming curriculum, and enlisting instructors. Collaborates on behalf of CHRA with the CHRF for fiscal support of the program. Spring
Conference Plans CHRA’s all-day event that features "state of the art" seminars and exhibits for HR professionals from Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Volunteer

Marketing Provides marketing strategies for all association activities, efforts and initiatives. Seeks understanding of each Board member’s work in order to determine marketing potentials and venues. Implements marketing action plans designed to advance the interests of the association. Facilitates sponsorship opportunities to affiliate members. Is liaison to the Executive Director for pricing and other special requests by potential sponsors.
Professional Certification Provides educational opportunities for association members through various learning resources; such as, formal college preparation and re-certification courses, individual and group study forums, and/or making learning resources available for those seeking PHR/SPHR certification or re-certification through SHRM/HRCI. Compensation
and Benefits Assures that the association membership is receiving quality information regarding employment compensation. Provides information through articles and positions papers concerning state of the art compensation practices and trends. Determines membership needs for compensation survey data and plans strategies for meeting those needs. Acts as liaison with compensation survey company.
College Relations Stimulates, encourages and supports the development of student chapters at local colleges and universities. Serves as Board liaison to each established student chapter. Develops strategies to connect student chapter members with general membership for mutual benefit. Represents the Board in student Chapter recognition activities. Workforce
Readiness Stimulates, encourages and supports the development of student chapters at local colleges and universities. Serves as Board liaison to each established student chapter.
